Alphalan contains melphalan, a chemotherapy drug that is mainly used to treat multiple myeloma, melanoma, ovarian and breast cancer. Alphalan is an alkylating agent of the bischloroethylamine type. Alphalan is active against both resting and rapidly dividing tumor cells. Alphalan is indicated for the palliative treatment of multiple myeloma and for the palliation of non-respectable epithelial carcinoma of the ovary.
